It doesn’t seem that long ago, but this is actually issue number 52. Next week I will republish the original issue, The Body of Christ is Found. I have some revisions and additions planned, so even if you have seen this issue before, please come back for a new look.
And now the editorial:
This publication really began over a week before the first issue hit the web. I was preparing to teach The Christian must Teach Christ to my Sunday morning adult Bible class, and as I studied the lesson the title kept coming back to me over and over again. "The Christian must Teach Christ. The Christian must Teach Christ." And the theme statement from the lesson kept popping into my mind. "Jesus preached Jesus. Peter preached Jesus. Philip and Stephen preached Jesus. Paul preached Jesus. We must be busy preaching Jesus as well." There was just one problem. I’m not a preacher. I’m a Tech Manager for one of the Baby Bells. And yet I couldn’t shake the notion that the lesson I was about to teach was meant for me. A week went by.
I had been wanting to build a web page, but I was having a hard time coming up with a concept that I could really get into. Then, on Saturday night February the 3rd, I had just finished studying for my next Sunday morning class. The title for this lesson was The Christian must Become Christ. As I sat in front of my computer (that’s where I do my studying, using my Bible study software), my fingers began to type a stylized newspaper article about the body of Christ. It was short and a bit awkward, but it was a start. Now a year later I’m not sure that the writing style has improved any, but the articles have certainly gotten longer.
I have enjoyed this last year. It’s been fun. It’s been a learning experience. It has certainly been a blessing to me. I pray that it has been a blessing for you the readers. I don’t know who many of you are, but just knowing that you are out there and that you keep coming back has kept me writing week after week. Thank you for your support, and please keep coming back. I will make the trip worth your effort. And while you’re at it, if these articles have been a blessing to you, then bring a friend the next time and share The Good News with someone you care about.
Not a preacher but called to share Christ,
Gerry Sturgeon
