Key Text: Mark 16:6-7
"You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’ "
Theme:
The cross should have been the end of the story of Jesus. It was not. God had a sequel in mind, a twist to the plot that gave new life to Jesus and new hope to his disciples. What happened in the tomb changed fearful, doubting, faithless followers into bold, courageous, and eloquent witnesses. What but a resurrection can account for such a transformation?
Application:
Too many of us end the gospel with the cross. We accept forgiveness and grace. But do we understand that, with the resurrection, comes the power to be transformed from victims into victors?
