Mark 6:30-8:21
Key Text: Mark 8: 17-18
Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?" (NIV)
Theme:
Some people reject Jesus becuase they are not god soil (Mark 4:1-20). The Pharisees are examples of this. Others are to blind and uncomprehending to come to the fullness of faith which Jesus seeks. The disciples are the best example of this. They ran the risk of missing Jesus - not because they were evil but because they were not paying attention.
Application:
We modern disciples tend to be hard on the 12 disciples. We fool ourselves into thinking we would have been more dedicated, more perceptive, more faithful if we had walked with Jesus. In fact, we are no better today at following Jesus than they were then. Think about it.
