The Conscious Cross

Key Text: John 14:28-29

You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. (NIV)

Theme:

Jesus walked into the cross with his eyes wide open. He knew it was coming. He spent the week before his death preparing his disciples for what was coming. From the beginning of his ministry he dropped hints and predictions of how things would end. Even before coming to this earth, Jesus was well aware of how he would leave it.

Application:

We cannot hide from the cross by claiming it was a terrible accident or a last minute ploy. The cross was the planned, premeditated, and purposeful scheme of God. Why would God plan a cross? Because He loved us so much!
