Key Text: 1 John 1:1-2a
That Which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched -- this we proclaim concerning the Word of Life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it...
Theme:
The Christian religion is a faith rooted in historical events. Jesus Christ was a real person who lived in a specific time and culture. He is not the stuff of myth, no is our faith founded on unreliable stories and pretty fictions. Jesus lived. He was seen, heard and touched. His place in history is as certain as that of Caesar or Plato. Christians don't have to apologize for an uncertain past.
Application:
Knowing Jesus as an historical figure not only validates our faith, but gives us answers to the skepticism of others. Learn what you can about the historical proofs of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. It will benefit you and those who have questions.
