Satan and the Cross

Key Text: Hebrews 2:14-15

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death-- that is, the devil-- and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Theme:

We don’t seem to take the Devil very seriously anymore. But the Bible certainly does. It claims that Jesus had to go to the cross because of Satan. Satan hates Jesus. He tried to kill Jesus at his birth. He tempted and tormented Jesus throughout his ministry. And, in the end, he gloated over the cross of Jesus

Application:

Paul said, "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Perhaps it is time that we take Paul seriously and hate Satan as vehemently as he hates us.
