Key Text: Acts 3:13-15a
You handed [Jesus] over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the author of life…
Theme:
The story of the cross is a great drama with a cosmic cast of characters. Man plays his role in the story. Various individuals and groups "betrayed" Jesus to the cross. Judas, the religious leaders, Pilate – all played their part. But they did not act for themselves alone. They represented us. We were there when Jesus was crucified. There is blood on our hands.
Application:
Have you confessed your role in the crucifixion of Jesus? Have you acknowledged that your sins caused him to die, that you would have been shouting for his death along with the mob, that you also sold out your Lord for 30 pieces of silver?
