The Religion of Jesus is Supernatural

Key Text: John 3:11-12

I Tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

Theme:

Jesus had to face people in his own time who tried to limit God to the ordinary and the explainable. Religion is always more comfortable when God does nothing to surprise us. But Jesus insisted that God is alive and well and active in the affairs of people. To Christ, religion is supernatural. It is larger than life. When you take the extraordinary out of religion, you remove God.

Application:

You don't have to deny the supernatural to remove a supernatural component from religion. To ignore the power of God is as damaging to religion as to deny that power. Do you pray? Is the Spirit living in you? Is your faith powerful?
