Key Text: Romans 8:31-32
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all -- how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
Theme:
There were invisible powers present the Friday afternoon that Jesus died. It was not just the crowds that gathered around the cross, or the Pharisees, or the soldiers. God was there as well, vitally involved in the events which were unfolding, vitally interested in the outcome of those events.
Application:
All it takes to know how much God loves you, how much he values you, is one good look at the cross. Every wound on the body of Jesus - each gasp he took and pain he endured - speaks eloquently of the magnificent love God feels for us.
